IMI certified mediator

IMI is a non-profit public interest initiative to drive transparency, high competency and ethical standards into mediation practice across all fields, developing global professional qualities for experienced mediators.
QUADRA is now qualified as an IMI QAP (Qualifyng Assessment Program), i.e. as a certification centre for IMI accreditation, stating quality and prestige of mediators with proven experience, that successfully completed Quadra CMP – Certified Mediator Program.

Certification process, with is transparency on skills and practices, is one of the best way for a professional development of a mediator’s skills and will help improving an high quality mediator’s credentials and competences.
Quadra CMP – CERTIFIED MEDIATOR PROGRAM, qualified IMI QAP, is an accreditation service for a mediator with significant experience and training, extended to transformative, facilitative/problem solving and evaluative approaches to practice, which has been successfully tested since 2013.

Certification information

Pre-requisites
QUADRA’s CMP is open to any mediator who have attended a 50-hour minimum basic training course organized by a reliable training body/faculty and can give evidence of having taken part in at least 20 mediation sessions, either as mediator, or co-mediator, totalling minimum 200 hours. Quadra presently offers the possibility to be assessed in Italian and English, and it is working on enlarging the available languages

Certification process
Certification is based upon a mediator’s successful completion of the program, which includes:
- a written test on mediation theory and practice that consists of a series of questions and it is passed when at least 80% of answers are deemed satisfactory an assessor’s evaluation
- according to standards varying in consideration of mediation approach chosen by the applicant
- of a performance-based testing, consisting in having the candidate observed in a video-taped mediation for 30 minutes approximately and scrutinizing the self-assessment paper submitted by applicant, describing the more significant interventions related to the video. a 1-hour interview with an assessor.

Upon receipt of an application, Quadra will contact the applicant in order to confirm or not eligibility for the certification process. In case the applicant is not eligible, any fees paid will be return less 10% as processing fees.
Video examination may take some weeks. In the meanwhile, the applicant is advised about dates and venues available for the Q&A test. The date of the interview is scheduled between applicant and assessor directly.
An applicant who has been considered as “non satisfactory” may submit a new video for review or ask to have the performance reviewed by a different assessor.

Costs
The fee for accreditation service and cover of costs is of 950,00 € (+ VAT if applicable)

Maintenance
Once released, the qualification is to be confirmed every two years, against evidence of on-going practice and practice - i.e. either (a) 8 mediations, including up to 4 simulations, plus 20 hours of education; or (b) attainment of minimum requirements in terms of refreshing courses or pupillage which are possibly mandated in the country of applicant’s country of residence.
