A course dedicated to transformative mediation. 8 hours.

Quadra promotes the transformative approach of its mediators to the conflict that separates parties, that is to say an approach intended to empower each party's skill concerning 1) an efficient managment of conflicts, by analysing their own situation and taking their own actions independently and being empowered, and 2) the understanding of the responding party's reasons, by avoiding a blind demonization.

This course introduces the basic concepts of transformative mediation. It is dedicated especially to those who have already received a basic training in mediation techniques and seek an innovative model to refer to. Notwithstanding there are no barriers and even beginners can certainly obtain useful information concerning the general phenomenon of mediation.
 

Organization details

The morning is dedicated to the illustration of the fundamental concepts, the most popular techniques, demonstrated with practical examples from experts.
In the afternoon all participants will have the opportunity to test what was learned, through case-studies under the guidance of the teachers.

  • Video: The three approaches of the mediator
  • Talk about the features of the transformative approach.
  • The principles
  • Transformative theory of conflict
  • The objectives of transformative mediator:
  1. Self-determination (empowerment) and
  2. Mutual understanding (recognition)
  • The actions of mediators in the conflict
  • Microskills: the responses of the mediator (mirroring, paraphrasing, summary, etc.. under the transformative view)

Afternoon (15-18)
