Aims: to discuss and promote mediation as a service in the interest of the clients (the 'parties') only.

Description: If mediation has a raison-d'etre, that's its ability to give the parties 'voice and choice', i.e. the possibility to decide autonomously about their future. We are convinced that, in order to do that, mediation must be client-centered, following Carl Rogers' famous words in terms of psychotherapist/patient relationship.
Any practice pursuing other aims, on purpose or inadvertently, does not fit this vision, and serves rather the interest of the System, or of the ADR center involved in the dispute, or of the same mediator (who decides what is the best solution for his/her clients).
The group will concentrate in particular on designing strategies to avoid the drawbacks stemming from utilization of mediation as a mere venue to reduce judiciary backlog. That is maybe one of the positive outcomes of increased recourse to mediation, however it cannot be the only ground for any supporting public action.
