QUADRA, UKRAINE AND PUTIN’S WAR

QUADRA is an ADR center that deals with conflict. Specifically, QUADRA encourages its mediators to act in ways that transform the typical destructive dynamics of conflict into a constructive confrontation. This is the case at interpersonal level, as well as in relations between groups, communities and nations.

QUADRA is not a political entity, nor does it operate as a strategic consultant. QUADRA and its mediators are, by definition, neutral and equidistant to the parties in conflict. However, what is happening in Europe today urges us to take a clear stance against the aggression that the Ukrainian population (and part of the Russian people as well) are suffering due to the wicked decisions taken by President Putin and his entourage.

We hope, of course, that the conflict may soon de-escalate and peace negotiations may soon replace the armed confrontation. For our part, it is clear that there is little we can do in the immediate term, either as an organization or as individuals. The 'transformation' that QUADRA promotes is by its very nature unarmed, and we do not have the resources to mount any kind of defense or, more importantly, to stop the slaughter and expulsion of mothers and children from their land. Others, perhaps, do have this ability; their action seems to us terribly important for all of us to continue to live in a world free of oppression and tyranny.

Rather, it is in the long run that organizations such as ours can prove useful in recomposing a torn social fabric, replace toxic narratives, and ultimately find a way to live peacefully side by side. This is what we will try to work on - not because we believe in harmony per se, but because we are convinced that the citizens of all belligerent States do want, and do have the capacity to live a more decent life.
